Baby dies in fall from Sardinia hotel balcony

An 18-month-old British baby fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Sardinia, Italian media reported Sunday.

The accident happened Saturday evening in the marine resort of Chia, in the southwest of the island, according to the ANSA news agency and Sky TG24.

The baby, from Reading, was with his parents at the Chia Laguna Resort when he got past the railing of their hotel room balcony and fell to the floor below, violently hitting his head.

The boy was rushed by helicopter to a hospital in the Sardinian capital Cagliari where he died, ANSA said.
