COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Danish pharmaceutical group Lundbeck said on Thursday a new analysis of a clinical phase III trial with its candidate stroke drug Desmoteplase showed positive results.

"The re-analysis ... suggests that patients with a detectable blood clot can benefit from Desmoteplase," Lundbeck said, adding it had the potential to treat patients with acute ischaemic stroke up to nine hours after onset of symptoms.

"No treatment is available today that allows patients to reach hospital and be diagnosed within this extended time window," it said.

Lundbeck currently generates most of its revenue from anti-depressant drug Cipralex, sold in the United States as Lexapro.
