Mazda sales edge up almost 2 percent in January as smaller model gains offset truck, SUV drops
Mazda North American Operations said Tuesday its sales edged up about 2 percent last month, as big gains from a handful of smaller models offset declines among at trucks and SUVs.
BY THE NUMBERS: Sales rose to 15,694 from 15,420 in the same month last year.
TOP SELLER: The company sold 7,368 of its Mazda3 compact, down slightly from 7,649 sold in the same month in 2009.
HOT MODELS: The Mazda5 minivan, CX-7 crossover and the Mazda6 midsize car all posted double-digit sales gains during the month.
